About Us

The Superiorland chapter of Human Resource Professionals was founded in May 2002. The purpose of the Superiorland Chapter of Human Resource Professionals (SCHRP) is to provide personal and professional development by meeting on common ground in a spirit of fellowship. Further, it is our purpose to enhance human resource management in the public and private sector of the Superiorland region located in the Upper Peninsula (UP) of Michigan.

There are fifteen counties in the UP covering an area of over 300 miles, east to west, and 235 miles, north to south. Lakes Superior, Michigan and Huron draw a continuous 1,700-mile shoreline around the Upper Peninsula. Within these boundaries the 384-mile-long peninsula stretches from Drummond Island to Ironwood, reaching 233 miles wide from Menominee in the south to Copper Harbor at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula. The population of the UP is over 300,000 people.

Currently our chapter is a 100% chapter of the Society of Human Resource Management. That means every member of our local chapter is also a member of the national SHRM organization. For more information on joining our chapter, please email info@uphra.org.

Quarterly meetings are held in Marquette. In coordination with the U.P. Human Resources Association (UPHRA), an annual forum is held featuring a variety of topics with numerous breakout sessions. For more information on the fall forum, please visit http://uphra.org/fall-forum.

Our chapter has also received the Superior Merit award from SHRM for outstanding performance.
